  • God is Sovereign Study

Day 1

God is Sovereign. He is completely in control of all events. He ordains them to transpire. He allows them to occur. God does whatever is in accordance with His divine purposes and will do as He pleases and when He pleases. He upholds all things by His power. His sovereignty is governed by His wisdom and eternal love.

Therefore, because GOD is Sovereign….

  • I will believe that my life is in the hands of God and He has it under control.
    • “Accept the way God does things, for who can straighten what He has made crooked? Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.” (Ecclesiastes 7:13-14)
  • I will trust God with all my heart and mind by focusing on what I’m called to do and stop trying to play God with my circumstances.
    • “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.” (Proverbs 3:5-8)
  • I will stop trying to control what others think, say, and do in relation to me or with anything and accept my role under God with them.
    • “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”’ (Matthew 22: 36-40)

Read 1 Chronicles 29: 11-13 and answer the following questions.

  1. From this scripture what have you learned about the Person of GOD? __________________________________________________________________________
  2. How will you apply what you learned about GOD as you go about your day and/or when you encounter trouble? __________________________________________________________________________
  3. When trouble comes your way, why do you think it is difficult for you to trust GOD is in control? __________________________________________________________________________
  4. In light of God’s sovereignty, what might you need to confess to God and seek HIS forgiveness for? __________________________________________________________________________
